ATTO 488 (Figure 1) is a fluorescent dye known for its excellent water solubility. Its key attributes include strong absorption, high fluorescence quantum yield, superior photostability, and minimal triplet formation. These properties make ATTO 488 ideal for single-molecule detection, advanced microscopy techniques, flow cytometry (FACS), fluorescence in-situ hybridization (FISH), and others. It is most efficiently excited within the 480-515 nm range, with the 488 nm line of an Argon-Ion laser being particularly effective for excitation.
Atto 488 can be used as an alternative of Alexa Fluor® 488.
